Abstract
ABSTRACT:Lotions are the liquid preparations which are meant for external application without friction. They are applied directly to skin with the help of some absorbent material such as cotton wool or gauze soaked in it. Formulation of aloe vera lotion, menthol lotion and aloe vera lotion with arrow root powder is prepared using different composition.These formulations were evaluated with different parameters like Homogeneity, Appearance, After feel, Acid Value, pH measurement, Irritancy test, Viscosity, Accelarated stability testing, Spreadability, Type of emulsion test, Sensitivity Test, Washability Test,, In vitro permeation studies, Test for thermal stability, Determination of water content, Patch test.The herbal lotion prepared from alovera gel and honey is useful for nourishing skin, and also act as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antioxidant agent. As moisturization is present in alovera gel it is also used to prevent dryness of skin during winter and during summer and also use to prevent acne and sunburn. The herbal lotion passes all evaluation test and has no side effect hence it is safe to use for skin.KEYWORDS: Herbal drugs, Herbal drug extract, alovera, Honey, coconut milk, Herbal formulation and Evaluation. 1.INTRODUCTIONHerbal cosmetics, sometimes referred to as natural cosmetics, are made with materials obtained from plants. These items are intended to improve one's appearance while offering a number of advantages for the skin and hair. Since herbal ingredients are natural and are thought to be safer than synthetic ones, their use in cosmetics has grown significantly.Definition and CompositionHerbal ingredients are added to a base of approved cosmetic materials to create herbal cosmetics. Plant materials such as leaves, roots, flowers, and seeds are used to make these herbal substances. Because they are readily available and have less adverse effects than chemical components, the use of herbal ingredients is recommended.
