Abstract
The design and analysis of spur gears play a crucial role in mechanical power transmission systems. This review presents a comprehensive overview of finite element simulation-based studies that analyze the structural and performance behavior of spur gears using various materials and tooth configurations. The study highlights critical parameters such as Von Mises stress, total deformation, factor of safety (FOS), and estimated life cycles. Further, it compares conventional materials like structural steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys and evaluates the influence of gear tooth numbers on mechanical performance. The review also explores modeling techniques, advantages, limitations, and potential research directions.
