Abstract
This study compares the home loan preferences of LIC home Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL) and HDFC Ltd., concentrating on borrower expectations and service quality. Income, age, region, loan amount, duration, and interest rate preferences were all studied using data from 64 respondents. The findings indicate that youthful, urban, middle-income, and self-employed people are important borrowers. LIC HFL is appreciated for its flexible payback terms and minimal processing fees, but HDFC stands out for its digital offerings and pricing transparency. This can enhance user experience and widen housing finance access in India. Both institutions have great satisfaction rates, yet they serve different borrower needs. The data were analyzed using statistical tools such as Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis H, chi-square, correlation, and weighted mean. The study concludes that both lenders are effective, but suggests improvements in digital outreach, competitive rates, and borrower education.
