Abstract
The workforce in India undergone in a transition phase as different industrial oriented skill programs implemented by various higher education Institution in India in the support of central Government. As a result of which the employment in India shifted to 64.33 crores in 2024-25 from 47.5 crore in 2017-18. The unemployment rate in India has declined to 3.2% in 2024-25 as compared to 2017-18 by 6.0%. Basicaly to understand, Employment means a position where an individual performs his task for compensation. The compensation is basically in the form of currency, which is known as salary or wages. It is the relationship between employer the provider of the duty or work against compensation and the employee, the person who has to perform the task against the salary or wages. Employment in India is of different categories such as part time, full time or temporary. The authors made an attempt to elaborate different theories if employment and the its important in the current situation. This theoretical paper exhibits the relationship between employment and unemployment in India. Secondary sources of data such as various published journals and fact sheets are used for collection of information for the literature purpose.
