Abstract
AI is transforming the automotive industry, and nobody is questioning this when itcomes to AVs. An inherent part of AI,predictive analytics allows AVs to predict road conditions, traffic patterns and respond at an appropriate time offer a safe and smooth drive. This paper studies the use of predictive intelligence to improve the safety andperformance of autonomous vehicles. It includes AI technologies like machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, sensorfusion in AV frameworks. The paper also elaborates on the uses of such prediction models in path planning, risk estimationand accident prevention. It alsodeals with some of the most critical problems of the data quality, model explicability, regulatory objectives, and system reliability. Theresults illustrate that predictive AI can offer transformational safety benefits, but only if it is properly validated and improved upon to be capable of operating in the real world to the necessary safety levels.
