Abstract
The regional disparity can be justified as inequalities that lead to incomplete utilization of resources involved in the functioning of an economy of a region. Regional disparities caused by regional imbalance are subject to under-utilization or even to non-utilization of economic resources both natural and human and in that process, individuals are discriminated against. Regional disparities concerning poverty, income and unemployment have been increasing among the different regions (vertical) and in the districts within the regions of the state (horizontal). Thus, economic disparity between the developed and the under-developed regions is widening day by day and is posing great threats to social peace and progress. Inter-regional disparities in various aspects of development in India have remained static despite overall development efforts made during the plan periods.
