Abstract
The construction sector is a major contributor to global energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Urban office buildings, due to their intensive operational loads and long occupancy hours, play a significant role in this footprint. This research investigates the feasibility of transforming a conventional office building in a Tier-2 Indian city into a Zero Emission Building (ZEB). Using simulation-based scenario analysis, the study evaluates energy efficiency measures and renewable integration strategies, with a focus on retrofitting opportunities. The findings demonstrate the viability of achieving net-zero emissions through a combined approach of passive design upgrades, active system optimization, and on-site photovoltaic deployment.
