Abstract
This research investigates the seismic resilience of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, focusing on vulnerabilities associated with soft storey configurations. Drawing insights from past earthquakes, including the Abruzzo Earthquake in 2009 and the Greece Earthquake in 2003, it evaluates soft storey failures. Through a systematic literature review, it underscores the significance of soft storey irregularities in seismic design and their historical performance. The methodology entails a thorough analysis of case studies and seismic data to assess soft storey vulnerabilities across diverse RC structure configurations. Critical observations highlight the detrimental impact of soft storey configurations during seismic events, emphasizing the urgency for enhanced seismic design strategies.
