Abstract
Finance is vital for every organization, playing a key role in planning, controlling, and monitoring financial resources to achieve business goals. Among various roles within a finance department, the position of a Finance Assistant is both foundational and diverse. This report is based on my internship experience as a Finance Assistant, where I worked with core financial operations and administrative tasks that support decision-making and financial stability. The Finance Assistant's role involves maintaining financial records, supporting audits, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with monthly financial reporting. Although often seen as an entry-level position, the assistant is crucial in ensuring an organization's financial accuracy and compliance. This internship offered a valuable opportunity to connect academic learning with practical financial responsibilities in a real-world setting. This report outlines my learnings and insights gained during the internship, highlighting financial documentation, budgeting, transaction processing, and the use of financial software tools. Additionally, it discusses the challenges I faced and the strategies I used to overcome them, providing a detailed reflection on how this internship shaped my understanding of finance. One key function of the Finance assistant is ensuring that the company adheres to financial regulations and statutory requirements such as tax compliance, filing returns, and adhering to accounting standards. Finance Assistants also act as a link between departments, ensuring that finance-related information (such as project expenses, salaries, or procurement details) communicated, and processed efficiently.
