Abstract
Abstract:Despite producing nearly five crore graduates annually, India faces a stark employability crisisapproximately 80% of graduates are considered unemployable in the formal job market. This paper investigates the paradox of mass higher education and the limited job-readiness of Indian graduates. It analyzes the structural disconnect between academic curricula and industry needs, evaluates policy initiatives, and examines socio-economic and institutional factors affecting employability. Drawing on secondary data, scholarly literature, and national employability reports, this paper proposes actionable reforms for aligning educational outcomes with employment demands, advocating for a paradigm shift in Indias approach to higher education.
