Abstract
Bridges are vital components of infrastructure, ensuring connectivity and facilitating economic activities. However, maintaining their structural integrity is paramount to prevent catastrophic failures. This paper investigates the significance of early defect detection and maintenance strategies in enhancing the longevity and safety of bridge structures. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and case studies, the study emphasizes the critical role of systematic inspection, skilled supervision during construction, and regular maintenance in mitigating structural deficiencies. Utilizing finite element modeling and analysis tools, the paper explores the impact of various defects on structural performance, highlighting the importance of effective defect classification and modeling techniques. The findings underscore the need for proactive maintenance practices and rigorous inspection protocols to ensure the continued reliability of bridge infrastructures. Ultimately, this research aims to contribute to the development of robust strategies for safeguarding bridge integrity and enhancing public safety.
