Abstract
In the modern digital healthcare landscape, the security and integrity of patient data have become critical concerns due to increasing cyber threats, data breaches, and unauthorized access. CARE-CRYPT is an innovative system designed to address these challenges by leveraging blockchain technology to ensure confidentiality, immutability, and transparency in managing electronic health records (EHRs). By decentralizing patient data storage and control, CARE-CRYPT empowers patients with ownership of their medical information while allowing secure and auditable access for healthcare providers. The system implements cryptographic encryption, smart contracts, and permissioned blockchain networks to control data sharing, enforce access policies, and log every transaction in a tamper-proof ledger. This framework significantly reduces the risks of unauthorized modifications, data loss, and falsification. Additionally, CARE-CRYPT fosters interoperability between hospitals, labs, and insurance providers while maintaining compliance with health data regulations such as HIPAA. The proposed system not only secures sensitive health data but also paves the way for a trustworthy and patient-centric healthcare ecosystem.
