Abstract
Recognizing the full scope of anatomical differences in the sciatic nerve is essential to enhancing clinical decision-making and strengthening anatomy education in both medical and rehabilitation settings. This narrative review systematically examines the types and prevalence of sciatic nerve variations, elucidates their critical clinical implications for diagnosis and treatment, and underscores the necessity of integrating such variability into academic curricula. Drawing from peer-reviewed literature published between January 2018 and April 2024, this paper synthesizes key findings and critically appraises relevant studies using established frameworks. Our findings show how important it is to understand anatomy deeply when planning rehabilitation and making clinical decisions., leading to actionable suggestions that can directly inform both education and clinical care.
