Abstract

AbstractSchool cleanliness is important for the overall physical health, emotional health, and study engagement of the students. A well-kept school system fosters a positive attitude towards learning, enhances concentration and increases satisfaction and joy. The paper aimed to describe the custodial staffing factors such as staffing levels, work hours, and staff-to-student ratios, and student satisfaction levels with school cleanliness and quality of school facilities in selected schools in the Davao Region. A total of 171 student respondents to the survey, to understand their perceptions of cleanliness in various amenities in school. They used a quantitative approach and data through correlation and regression techniques to determine how custodial staffing influences student satisfaction. According to the results, custodial staffing sufficiency is significantly positively related to students perceptions in relation to cleanliness and comfort meaning better-staffed schools report higher satisfaction (r 0.68, p < 0.001). Regression analysis demonstrated that custodial staffing explained the variance in student satisfaction. Sufficient staffing hours and staff-to-student ratios are important contributors to perceptions of cleanliness. As the custodial staff is very important for shaping the learning environment, the findings can inform school administrators and policymakers to improve custodial staffing and create healthier, more supportive, and motivating learning environments. Keywords: School Cleanliness, Custodial Staffing, Student Satisfaction, Academic Performance, Facility Maintenance, Learning Environment.
