Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) encompasses a vast array of devicesranging from computers to sensorsthatcommunicate over the Internet to deliver intelligent solutions and enable innovative services. A prominent applicationof IoT is in the realm of Smart Home Systems, where interconnected devices can control lighting, monitor temperature, detect smoke, and manage smart locks. Despite the convenience and efficiency offered, smart homes are increasinglyvulnerable to security and privacy risks, such as unauthorized access through surveillance devices or false alerts fromsmoke detectors. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of IoT, beginning with its architectural design andstandard components. It further delves into the layered structure of IoT networks and highlights the cybersecuritythreats facing smart homes. The study also addresses current issues and suggests possible solutions to improve therobustness of IoT-enabled smart home systems.
