Abstract
AbstractThis study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Project MaRCEL-Make Reading a Challenge to Every Learner on Decoding Deficiency of Grade Five Learners in Lower Tamugan Elementary School, General Roxas District, Davao City Division. The study used the two-group non-random selection pre-test-post-test experimental research design. The participants were composed of 24 learners in grades five in two sections using a non-random assignment of subjects where all learners of both groups -Section B (12 participants) and Section D (12 participants) were involved as subjects of the study. The statistical tools used were Mean, t-test Independent Samples, and Eta. The findings revealed that the pre-test score of controlled group in decoding skills was developing. While the pre-test score of experimental group in decoding skills was beginning. The post test score of controlled group in decoding skills was approaching proficient. While the post- test score of experimental group in decoding skills was advanced. There was a significant difference between the scores of the pupils before and after the implementation of the Project MaRCEL-Make Reading a Challenge to Every Learner. Likewise, the Project MaRCEL-Make Reading a Challenge to Every Learner has a large effect on the decoding skills. It was concluded that the utilization of Project MaRCEL-Make Reading a Challenge to Every Learner should be implemented in the whole district. Keywords: Project MaRCEL-Make Reading a Challenge to Every Learner, decoding skills, teachers in public elementary schools, Philippines.
