Abstract
Environmental and labour laws in Gujarat present substantial compliance challenges to manufacturing companies, shaping both operational practices and strategic decision-making within the sector. The state's regulatory environment is governed by statutes such as the Factories Act, 1948, the Gujarat Factories Rules, 1963, and the Environment Protection Act, 1986, which collectively enforce rigorous standards relating to worker welfare, industrial safety, emissions, and environmental management. Recent amendmentslike the Factories (Gujarat Amendment) Ordinance, 2025attempt to balance operational flexibility with heightened responsibility for worker safety and environmental stewardship.
