Abstract
Introduction:-Fascioliasis, commonly known as liver fluke disease, is a parasitic infection that affects both humans and animals. It is caused by flatworms Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola giganticathat primarily target the liver and bile ducts. While fascioliasis is often associated with livestock like sheep and cattle, humans can also contract it, making it an important public health concern. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified fascioliasis as a neglected tropical disease (NTD). This means it affects millions of people, particularly in poorer regions, but often doesnt get enough attention or resources for prevention and treatment. This article explains what fascioliasis is, how it spreads, its symptoms, how its diagnosed and treated, and what can be done to prevent it.
