Abstract
This study explores the interplay between technology and governance in enhancing public service delivery, focusing on the Public Distribution System (PDS) in India. Effective governance, characterized by accountability, transparency, and integrity, is fundamental to fostering public trust and ensuring resource efficiency. The study examines how integrating technological advancements with governance principles can optimize the PDS, a program crucial for food security and poverty alleviation. Good governance, as outlined by historical and contemporary definitions, involves a multi-stakeholder approach encompassing government, civil society, and the private sector. It discusses technological innovations such as digital identity systems, blockchain, and data analytics that can address inefficiencies and corruption in the PDS. Case studies from Chhattisgarh and Odisha illustrate successful implementations of technology in improving PDS efficiency and transparency, while also challenges faced in remote and tribal areas. Overall, the study underscores the importance of integrating technology with governance frameworks to enhance public service delivery. Keywords: Good Governance, Technology Integration, PDS, E-Governance, Transparency and Accountability
