Abstract
In todays healthcare environment, the need for an efficient, reliable, and secure system to manage hospital operations is more crucial than ever. This project presents the development of a Hospital Management System (HMS) that streamlines the administration of hospitals by digitally handling patient details, doctor information, appointment scheduling, and patient medical histories. The system is built using a Python Flask backend, a MySQL database, and a user-friendly frontend using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Key features include secure login for administrators, doctors, and patients; detailed patient record management including medical history; doctor scheduling and specialization tracking; appointment booking; and automated report generation. The HMS is designed with modularity and scalability in mind. It includes a robust database schema to reduce redundancy, ER and DFD diagrams to visualize system flow, and proper access control mechanisms to protect sensitive health information. Real-world testing confirms that the system improves data retrieval speed, reduces administrative workload, and enhances patient care delivery. This project report details the analysis, design, implementation, and testing of the HMS and proposes future enhancements such as integration with cloud platforms, telemedicine modules, and real-time analytics for hospital resource management.
