Abstract
The International Coaching Course (ICC) on General Conditioning provided an intensive 100-hour training program integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application to enhance coaching competence. Conducted at the Hungarian University of Sports Science, the program combined lectures, workshops, and hands-on practice across multiple facilities, including the Karate Hall, Gym, Tesco Gymnastic Hall, and outdoor environments. The study aimed to deepen understanding of conditioning principles, injury prevention, and athlete recovery while fostering practical coaching skills, assessment techniques, and evidence-based training methods. Practice sessions were systematically structured to include warm-up routines, skill-specific drills, physical conditioning, and cool-downs, ensuring comprehensive athlete development. Key areas of focus included progressive overload, periodization, biomechanics, nutrition, and sports ethics, all of which were applied directly in session planning and delivery. Feedback from peers and mentors emphasized adaptability, communication, and organizational skills, while also highlighting areas for further growth such as data-driven performance tracking and advanced injury prevention. The program facilitated cultural adaptation, broadened professional perspectives, and established international coaching networks. Ultimately, this experience strengthened the authors ability to design and implement scientifically informed, safe, and effective conditioning programs. The acquired knowledge and skills hold significant potential for application in Sierra Leone, particularly in developing structured training systems, advancing youth development, and fostering community-based fitness initiatives. The ICC training thus represents a transformative step toward promoting athletic excellence, sustainable sports development, and professional growth in general conditioning coaching.
