Abstract
The pace of digital change in the education ecosystem in India has brought a major overhaul in the Edu-Tech industry, and this change accelerated with the onset of the Digital India initiative and subsequent efforts based on National Education Policy 2020. The influence of both Digital India and NEP 2020 will be reviewed in this paper in terms of their role in developing the Edu-Tech industry in Uttar Pradesh, which is one of the largest and most educated states in India in terms of population. The initiative of Digital India can be attributed to major amendments in digital infrastructure, increased internet access, increased smartphone adoption, and digital literacy, which all have led to a positive influence in making learning technology-driven. The government of India launched two important portals named DIKSHA, SWAYAM, e-Pathshala, and online learning management systems. The NEP 2020 fast-tracked this process by focusing on technology integration, blended learning, online learning, digital pedagogies, assessment based on competency, and continuous teacher education. The document focuses on equitable access, multilingual digital content, and inclusive education, which have motivated educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh to move towards Edu-Tech solutions. As a consequence, the Edu-Tech industry in Uttar Pradesh grew in various categories such as K-12 education, competitive exams, higher education, skill education, and vocation education. The research work is based on secondary sources of data, literature, and other available studies to examine the growth trends, opportunities, and challenges. The analysis shows that though major breakthroughs have occurred in Edu-Tech adoption in Uttar Pradesh with the onset of Digital India and NEP 2020, issues such as digital divide, availability, cost, and teacher readiness remain. The research work concludes that for a well-rounded and balanced expansion of Edu-Tech in Uttar Pradesh, it is necessary to have government support in partnering with the private sector towards digital inclusion.
