Abstract
Coal mining remains one of the most hazardous occupations globally, with safety measures playing a critical role in ensuring worker well-being and productivity. This review paper investigates the relationship between safety protocols and employee performance, focusing specifically on South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). It explores how mental health, behavioural factors, and types of employment (daily-rated vs. monthly-rated workers) influence safety outcomes and organizational productivity. Drawing on existing literature, industry data, and government reports, the paper highlights the long-term benefits of structured safety systems and identifies areas for future improvement in SECLs workforce management.
