Abstract
AbstractThis study explored the influence of civic education on social responsibility among senior high school students. The research was motivated by the need to understand how civic education shapes students attitudes and behaviors toward community engagement and ethical participation in society. A quantitative research design was utilized, and the inclusion criteria required participants to be senior high school students enrolled in public schools offering civic education programs, actively participating in related classes or activities. Informed consent was secured from all participants, with parental consent obtained for those under 18 years old. Slovins formula was used to determine a representative sample size, resulting in the random selection of approximately 286 students from a population of 1,000. The data collected through survey instruments were analyzed to assess changes in students social responsibility. The results revealed that students exposed to comprehensive civic education demonstrated a significantly higher sense of social responsibility, particularly in community engagement, ethical behavior, and active citizenship. These findings underscored the vital role of civic education in fostering socially responsible individuals and suggested the need for enhanced civic education initiatives in senior high school curricula. Keywords: civic education, social responsibility, senior high school students, community engagement, active citizenship
