Abstract
Strain rate is considered as the most significant parameter in predicting the crack propagation path.. Maximum strain rate criteria were considered in this analysis. A low carbon steel sheet of 2.2mm thickness is used will postulate the single edge crack specimens for the analysis of crack initiation angle. The knowledge of the crack initiation angle is an important issue in arresting the crack. In addition, SIF completely characterizes the crack tip stress condition in linear elastic material.
