Abstract
AbstractThis study examined the relationship between learning interest and performance skills among learners in Hagonoy II District, Davao del Sur. Using a quantitative design with a descriptive research method, data were collected through standardized survey questionnaires. Results revealed that the extent of learning interest among learners was very extensive, with a mean rating of 4.22, while performance skills were moderately extensive, with a mean of 3.19. Findings further showed a significant positive relationship between learning interest and performance skills. Regression analysis indicated that academic progress and learning environment significantly influenced performance skills, whereas social involvement and learning activities did not show a significant effect. The model explained approximately 39.69% of the variance in performance skills. These results suggest that enhancing academic progress and improving the learning environment can positively impact learner performance. It is recommended that teachers engage in professional development activities that promote interactive and innovative teaching strategies, such as hands-on activities, project-based learning, and digital tools, alongside regular formative assessments to monitor and improve learner outcomes. Keywords: learning interest, performance skills, academic progress, student engagement, elementary education
