Abstract
Light pollution, an often overlooked environmental concern, refers to the excessive, misdirected, or obtrusive artificial light produced by urbanization and industrial development. In India, rapid urban growth, widespread infrastructure projects, and a lack of stringent regulations have intensified the problem, adversely affecting ecosystems, human health, and astronomical observations. This paper critically examines the causes, consequences, and legal inadequacies related to light pollution in India while proposing practical solutions and legal reforms to address this emerging challenge.
