Abstract
Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a clinically proven smoking cessation aid designed to reduce withdrawal symptoms by delivering controlled doses of nicotine without the harmful constituents of tobacco smoke. Available in various forms such as patches, gums, lozenges, inhalers, and nasal sprays, NRT helps individuals gradually wean off nicotine dependence, thereby improving cessation success rates. Studies have demonstrated that NRT can significantly increase the likelihood of quitting smoking, especially when combined with behavioral support. Despite its efficacy, factors such as adherence, correct usage, and individual motivation play crucial roles in determining outcomes. As part of a comprehensive tobacco control strategy, NRT remains a cornerstone intervention recommended by clinical guidelines globally.
