Abstract
AbstractThis study unwrapped the experiences of school heads in handling human resource management in the post-pandemic context within the Division of Digos City. Ten (10) school heads participated and shared how they navigated various human resource-related challenges that emerged as schools reopened. The study employed a descriptive phenomenological approach to extract rich narratives through virtual in-depth interviews, focusing on the real-life complexities of managing staff in a dynamic educational landscape. The thematic analysis of the responses from the participants revealed the experiences of school heads as they dealt with challenges such as staff shortages, undisciplined behavior among personnel, lack of professional development opportunities, and resistance to change. These issues greatly impacted staff morale, school operations, and overall teaching quality. The participants frequently reported that these concerns were draining and demanded substantial time, patience, and leadership intervention to maintain school functionality. However, school heads employed coping mechanisms such as open communication with staff, collaborative problem-solving, supportive leadership practices, and innovative ways to deliver professional development despite resource constraints. They also reinforced a culture of accountability and motivation to maintain a positive work environment. The insights drawn from the studys findings were the importance of fostering a supportive leadership culture, recognizing the value of continuous professional growth, and implementing strategic human resource practices. Keywords: Professional Development, School Heads, Human Resource Management
