Abstract
The introduction of web openings in reinforced concrete (RC) T-beams for service ducts often reduces the shear capacity and durability of the member. Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP), particularly Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP), have emerged as a viable retrofitting material. This paper presents a comprehensive review of experimental advancements in strengthening shear-deficient RC T-beams with web openings using externally bonded FRP composites. The influence of parameters such as number of FRP layers, fiber orientation, anchorage techniques, and shear span-to-depth ratios are critically analyzed. The review also highlights challenges associated with debonding and the role of anchorage in maximizing FRP utilization.
