Abstract
The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various industries by enhancing automation, efficiency, and productivity. This paper explores the pivotal role and impact of AI-driven automation in small and medium-sized industries (SMIs), which form the backbone of many economies worldwide. SMIs often face challenges such as limited resources, skilled labor shortages, and competitive pressure; AI offers transformative solutions to address these issues. The integration of AI technologies, including machine learning, robotics, and intelligent systems, has enabled SMIs to automate routine tasks, improve quality control, optimize supply chains, and enhance decision-making processes. This shift not only boosts operational efficiency but also reduces costs and minimizes human error, fostering growth and sustainability in competitive markets. Furthermore, the paper examines the various barriers faced by SMIs in adopting AI, such as high initial investment, lack of technical expertise, and resistance to change. It discusses strategies for overcoming these challenges, including government initiatives, collaborative models, and skill development programs. The study also highlights case examples demonstrating successful AI implementation in different sectors like manufacturing, textiles, and food processing, illustrating tangible benefits and potential for scalability. The future outlook emphasizes the increasing importance of AI in shaping the small and medium industry landscape, advocating for policy support, innovation, and capacity building to accelerate adoption. The paper concludes that AI-driven automation has a profound effect on enhancing productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability of SMIs, ultimately contributing to economic growth and job creation. As AI continues to evolve, its strategic integration into small and medium industries promises to unlock new opportunities for innovation and development.
