Abstract
AbstractThis research explored the connection between the organizational climate of schools and the retention of teachers in the Division of Davao del Sur specifically, at Buri Elementary School and in the Matanao II District. The research seeks to determine how different aspects of that organizational climate affect teachersdecisions to remain in those teaching positions. Surveys were administered to teachers to gather data, including their responses to items that focused on the kinds of leadership and decision-making processes that are used in their schools, as well as items that pertained to how much and in what ways teachers are recognized and supported. From the responses, the researchers were able to create a reasonably clear picture of the kind of climate in which the teachers are working and how favorable that climate is from the teachersperspectives. Research also correlates this information with the retention of teachers in the same positions for a given period of time. The overall message of the research is that for the organizational climate of a school to be favorable for teachers is that there must be some good kinds of leadership. Teachers must also be well-supported, and they must also have opportunities to work with their students and also work with their colleagues, especially in team-teaching situations. Keywords: School Organizational Climate, Teacher Retention, Leadership, Work- Life Balance, Professional Development.
