Abstract
The increasing complexity of modern power systems, driven by renewable energy integration, demand variability, and decentralized control, necessitates advanced analytical tools for understanding system dynamics. This paper presents a comprehensive application of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for real-time power system analysis. SEM, widely used in social sciences, offers a robust statistical framework to model complex causal relationships among multiple variables. We demonstrate its applicability in power system dynamics, addressing interdependencies among generation, load, system frequency, and voltage stability. Case studies based on real-time data from a smart grid testbed validate the effectiveness of SEM in capturing latent relationships and providing insights for system operators.
