Abstract
The rapid evolution of wireless networking technologies has significantly contributed to the expansion of Internet-based applications. Among the emerging paradigms, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) have garnered considerable attention due to their dynamic and infrastructure-independent nature. MANETs consist of self-configuring mobile devices such as smartphones, laptops, and sensors that communicate wirelessly and collaboratively maintain network operations without relying on centralized infrastructure. Their ability to function autonomously or integrate with existing cellular or Internet gateways makes them suitable for a wide range of innovative and flexible communication scenarios. This paper explores the diverse applications enabled by MANETs, identifies prevalent security threats, and outlines the primary technical challenges encountered by protocol designers and network engineers in this domain.
