Abstract
Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a transformative digital payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It has significantly impacted India's transition from a cash-driven to a cashless economy. This research delves into the emergence, growth, key features, and economic influence of UPI, including its role in financial inclusion, its impact on small businesses, its adaptability in rural areas, and its expansion beyond national borders. The study includes real-world case studies and also examines challenges like digital fraud and technical limitations. Finally, it outlines the future scope and innovations within the UPI ecosystem.
