Abstract

The study investigated the effect of digitalization of maritime logistics on revenue generation of Seaports in Nigeria. The population of this study comprised the 7 Seaports in Nigeria. 63 respondents provided quantitative data for the study through a semi-structured questionnaire designed in Likert 5-point scale. The quantitative data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics of mean, standard deviation and variance were used to analyze the univariate data of all the variables of the study. Regression analyses were conducted to ascertain the combined impacts of automated demand planning, warehouse automation, automated inventory management, and transport automation on revenue generation. The study revealed that automated demand planning, warehouse automation, automated inventory management, and transport automation have significant and positive effect on revenue generation of Seaports in Nigeria. Based on these findings, this study concluded that digitalization of maritime logistics has a positive, and significant effect on revenue generation of Seaports in Nigeria. Therefore, the study recommended that, Seaports in Nigeria should continue to digitalize their logistics operations, leverage resources within and outside the organizations in order to improve their revenue generation. Also, as rresistance to change, lack of skills, and inadequate Internet infrastructure are highlighted as challenges to digital adoption; so, government, port authorities and maritime stakeholders should include training programmes, stakeholder engagement and change-management plan in their maritime logistics digitalization kits
