Abstract

The study examined the effect of maritime logistics development on offshore renewable energy in Nigerian ports. Maritime logistics development (independent variable) was examined with these predictor variables: Production planning, material handling and transportation. offshore renewable energy was used as the dependent and proxy variable. The study was anchored on Stakeholder's Theory and Resource Dependence Theory. Cross-sectional survey research design was used for the study. The sources of data were primary and secondary methods. The main research instrument for collection of primary data was structured questionnaire. The population of the study consisted of six (6) ports in Nigeria. The study applied descriptive and inferential statistical tools to analyse the data and used probit regression model was applied to test the hypotheses with the help of STATA 15 and SPSS 25.0. Probit and logit multinomial regression were used to test the moderating variable. The reliability of the research instrument was validated with Cronbach Alpha threshold at 0 .70. The study revealed that production planning makes the maritime transporters in port to put a lot of emphasis on having a credible maritime logistics outcome and that maritime logistics of production planning influences the current contributions of sea tourism. The study found that material handling activities benefit management of warehouse, and that management of the warehouse also adopted policies that enhances adequate material handling arrangements. The study found that offshore renewable energy is a rapid and significant potential for addressing global challenges and improving the quality of life for people. The study concluded that: Production planning, material handling and transportation have significant effect on offshore renewable energy in Nigeria ports. The study recommended that: Port authorities should design and evolve effective maritime logistics strategies and policies, then implement and monitor them in collaboration with major strategic port operators for the offshore renewable energy enhancement. .
