Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being leveraged as a powerful tool to address the complexchallenges of climate change and to accelerate progress toward sustainable development goals (SDGs). Fromenhancing climate modeling and forecasting to optimizing renewable energy systems and enabling smartinfrastructure, AI offers innovative solutions that can significantly improve environmental monitoring, resourceefficiency, and disaster response. However, alongside its transformative potential, the use of AI in this domain alsoraises critical ethical concerns. These include issues related to data privacy, algorithmic bias, environmental costs ofAI model training, and the risk of deepening inequalities between technologically advanced and developing nations. This paper explores the dual role of AI as both an enabler and a disruptor in the context of climate action andsustainable development. It critically analyzes the impact of AI-driven systems across various sectors and examinesthe ethical implications associated with their deployment. The paper concludes by highlighting the need fortransparent, inclusive, and ethically grounded AI frameworks that align with environmental justice and globalsustainability objectives.
