Abstract
Electric vehicles (EVs) are a promising technology for sustainable transport due to their low to zero-carbon emissions, low noise, and high efficiency. However, their large penetration is expected to affect existing power grids due to high loads. To reduce air pollution, electric vehicles are seen as an alternative. A prototype electric bicycle was developed, incorporating a 48V 800W BLDC hub motor, 48 WH lithium-ion battery, and pedal assist system (PAS). The bicycle has a maximum speed of 20 kmh, a carrying capacity of 120 kg, and a charging time of 2.5 to 3 hours. The bicycle's cost is nearly 38.57% less than other products available in the market. The bicycle consists of wheels, frame, seat, handle bars, and components. Fully electric vehicles are being introduced to the passenger car market, and standards are being developed to reduce the risk of occupants and rescue personnel being exposed to hazards.
