IMPACT OF STUDENTS SOCIAL CONNECTEDNESS TO SCHOOL FACILITIES ON THEIR ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN USMANU DANFODIYO UNIVERSITY, SOKOTO

Abstract
This study was carried out to assess the influence of education students social connectedness to school facilities on their academic success in Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. A sample of 346 students were drawn from the population of 3,784 students comprising of 100 400 levels in the Faculty of Education and Extension Services who were admitted into the school from 20182019 20222023 academic sessions. Proportionate sampling technique was employed in obtained adequate sample from each levels. The instruments for data collection are questionnaire. The reliability of the SCSFSCIASQ was established using a test re-test method. The two tests were correlated and reliability index of 0.78 was obtained which rendered the instrument reliable for the study. The data obtained were analyzed using frequency and percentage. The findings from analyses showed that library, classroom socialization, collaborative learning, active classroom discussion influences the students social connectedness to school physical facilities, school social connectedness, academic connectedness and subject contents contribute to students academic success. The study revealed that students social connectedness to school physical facilities, school social connectedness, and academic connectedness influence their academic success in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto. It recommended that much attention should be paid on the nature of available physical facilities in the school environment and make sure they are conducive and appealing to the students and general public as this will create and sense of belong between the school and its students leading to greater academic success.Keywords: Influence, Social connectedness, School facilities, Academic success,
