Abstract
This study investigates the mediating role of intrinsic motivation in the relationship between perceivedorganizational support (POS) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among IT employees in India. With theaim of understanding how POS influences OCB via intrinsic motivation, a quantitative approach was adopted, involving 257 full-time employees across various sectors. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, and mediation analyses. The results indicate that POS significantly enhances intrinsicmotivation, which, in turn, positively impacts OCB, as evidenced by a substantial indirect effect in the mediationanalysis. These findings emphasize the pivotal role of intrinsic motivation in fostering positive workplace behaviors, thereby underscoring the importance of a supportive organizational environment. Practical implications includestrategies to enhance employee engagement, performance, and retention through policies that strengthen POS andintrinsic motivation. This research extends the literature on organizational behavior, highlighting futureopportunities for longitudinal studies to explore causality and contextual factors.
