Abstract
A one to one peer tutoring support strategy for students who need academic support, is a peer assisted learning strategy where in students in Science subject learn and work together to achieve academic success. It was usually through weekly, one to one, confidential tutoring sessions led by his partner, who took the class already and did well. Science teachers often use this kind of strategy because they believe that it could not just give effect and develop the intellectual but also the relationship of the students to their peers.Peer assisted learning strategy uses to improve students success within targeted topic in a subject area. It provides review sessions outside of class in which students work collaboratively by discussing reading, comparing notes, working together and share ideas for improving in class.Peer supporters occurs when people provide knowledge, experience, emotional, social or practical help to each other, where the teachers consider who will be their partner for them to cope easily the topic targeted. Most often they are paired either with their closes peer or with the most comfortable to be with.The advantages of Peer Assisted Learning Strategy to students who are participating are to earn higher mean final grades than students who do not participate within the targeted subject area and to develop social relationship, trust, concern and being cooperative as a student.
