Abstract
Phishing attacks are among the most prevalent cyber threats that target users through deceptive emails designed to extract sensitive information. This paper presents PhishGuard, a rule-based email phishing detection system that identifies and blocks fraudulent emails using heuristic analysis. The system analyzes email headers, URLs, and content for indicators of phishing such as mismatched domains, fake links, and suspicious keywords. Unlike traditional machine learning approaches, PhishGuard operates without training data, providing a fast, transparent, and explainable detection method. The system demonstrates high accuracy in identifying phishing messages with minimal false positives, making it a lightweight and reliable solution for real-time email security.
