Abstract
Dasapushpam, a group of ten sacred plants native to Kerala, India, holds deep cultural, spiritual, and medicinal significance in traditional practices, particularly during rituals like Onam. These plantsBiophytum sensitivum, Aerva lanata, Cynodon dactylon, Evolvulus alsinoides, Ipomoea sepiaria, . Cardiospermum halicacabum ,Curculigo orchioides, , Eclipta alba, Emilia sonchifolia, and Vernonia cinereaare celebrated not only for their symbolic value but also for their wide-ranging ethnomedicinal applications in Ayurveda and folk medicine.This review synthesizes traditional knowledge and recent scientific research on the pharmacological potential of these plants, including their reported antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory properties. It also examines the cultural role of Dasapushpam in preserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable health practices.
