Abstract
From the labor officer to the personnel officer to the personnel manager to the modern-day human resource manager, the human resource function has changed over time. In addition to a change in language, the goals and limitations of the function may also have changed. A new emphasis has been placed on how human resources should be organized and managed due to the globalized economy's dynamic and competitive corporate environment. As a result, the phrase "strategic human resource management" (SHRM) has gained popularity.
