Abstract
India faces a critical challenge in managing its burgeoning waste generation due to its rapidly growing population and urbanization. This research paper explores the multifaceted dimensions of waste management in India, highlighting its urgent need and the complex interplay of factors contributing to the crisis. The paper analyzes the current state of waste management, including the types of waste generated, collection systems, and disposal methods. It delves into the environmental, health, and socioeconomic impacts of improper waste management. Furthermore, the paper examines various stakeholders involved in waste management, such as government agencies, urban local bodies, private sector, and civil society. It assesses the existing policies, regulations, and initiatives aimed at addressing the waste crisis.
